How to Care for Your Jewellery (So It Lasts for Years)

Jewellery is made to be worn. But like anything you love, a little care helps it last longer. The good news? Caring for high-quality jewellery doesn’t need to be complicated. Here’s how to keep your pieces looking beautiful for years.

1. Avoid Harsh Chemicals

Even durable materials benefit from protection.

Try to avoid prolonged exposure to:

  • Chlorine (especially swimming pools)
  • Strong shampoos and body washes
  • Cleaning products
  • Perfume and hairspray directly on the metal

Apply lotions and fragrance first. Let them absorb. Then put your jewellery on.

2. Remove Before Heavy Activity

4. Store It Properly

When not wearing your jewellery:

  • Store pieces separately to avoid scratching

Different materials behave differently.

PVD-coated stainless steel

Highly durable and resistant to tarnishing. Designed for frequent wear.

Gold vermeil

A thick layer of gold over sterling silver. Long-lasting, but benefits from avoiding repeated chemical exposure.

Sterling silver

Can naturally oxidise over time, but can be easily polished back to shine.
