How to measure ring size using string/paper, and a ruler

1. Cut a strip of paper or use a piece of string. About 10–12 cm long and 0.5 cm wide works best.

2. Wrap it around the base of your finger.  Make sure it’s snug but not too tight (your ring should slide over the knuckle comfortably).

3. Mark the point where the ends meet.  Use a pen or hold it carefully.

4. Measure the length with a ruler.  Lay the paper/string flat and measure the distance in millimetres. This number = the circumference of your finger.

The millimetres you measure with paper/string will correspond directly to the EU ring size.

TIPS & TRICKS

Measure your finger in the evening, when it’s naturally at its largest. Cold hands can shrink up to half a size — make sure your fingers are warm. Skip cocktails and salty snacks before measuring; they can cause temporary swelling.
